Weather Update Today: IMD predicts heavy rains in Odisha, Kerala and these states – CNBC TV18

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday, September 10, predicted very heavy rainfall across several states and regions including Odisha, Kerala, south interior Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, and east Uttar Pradesh, among others.

In its daily weather bulletin, it stated that the southwest monsoon trough is south of its normal position at mean sea level and will likely continue for the next three to four days.

In the national capital, the IMD has forecast a generally cloudy sky with light rains in isolated areas. The temperature is expected to be at a maximum of 34°C and a minimum of 26°C.

  1. South Peninsular India

During the week, fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall has been predicted over coastal Karnataka, Kerala, Mahe and Lakshadweep, with scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall over coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Telangana and isolated to scattered rainfall over Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal and interior Karnataka.

Isolated heavy rainfall is expected over Kerala, Mahe, south interior Karnataka, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam on September 10, and coastal Karnataka during September 10-11.

  1. East and Northeast India

This week, fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall is most likely over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, West Bengal, Sikkim and Odisha, while scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall is possible over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya and Bihar.

According to the weather department, isolated very heavy rainfall is expected over Odisha on September 10, Meghalaya on September 12 and 13, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura on September 11–13.

Isolated heavy rainfall is also expected over Jharkhand from September 10 to 13, Gangetic West Bengal and Arunachal Pradesh during September 10-13, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and Bihar during September 11-13, Odisha on September 11, Assam and Meghalaya during September 10-14, and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during September 10-13.

  1. West and Central India

During the week, fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall is also expected over West and Central India.

The IMD has predicted isolated extremely heavy rainfall very likely over east Madhya Pradesh on September 10, with isolated very heavy rainfall over Madhya Pradesh on September 10 and 11, and Vidarbha on September 10.

Isolated heavy rainfall is also expected over Madhya Pradesh during the next seven days; Chhattisgarh on September 10, Vidarbha, Konkan, Goa, ghats area of Madhya Maharashtra and Gujarat region during September 10-11.

  1. Northwest India

Fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall is very likely over Uttarakhand, east Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and isolated to scattered rainfall over the remaining region during this week.

Isolated very heavy rainfall is expected over east Uttar Pradesh on September 10 and 11, west Uttar Pradesh from September 11 to 13, east Rajasthan on September 11 and 12, Haryana on September 12, and Uttarakhand on September 12 and 13.

Moreover, isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over East Rajasthan during the next seven days; Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand during September 10-14, and over Haryana on September 11.
