UltraTech Cement Q3 results: Net profit declines but beats Street estimates, stock rallies over 6% – CNBC TV18

Aditya Birla Group firm UltraTech Cement recorded a revenue increase of 3% on year-on-year basis at ₹17,193 crore in the October to December 2024 quarter, according to the firm’s third quarter financial results released on January 23. A CNBC-TV18 poll of analysts had projected the Q3 revenue to come in at ₹17,025 crore.

The company’s net profit came in at ₹1,473 crore, beating CNBC-TV18 poll estimate of ₹1,295 crore. In the third quarter of the previous financial year, the net profit stood at  ₹1,775 crore, implying a 17% YoY fall in the quarter under review.


UltraTech Cement Q3 results registered a beat on other parameters too. Its margin in the December 2024 quarter came in 17%, 70 basis points higher than 16.3% expected by the analysts polled by CNBC-Tv18.

The company recorded an EBITDA or earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation of ₹2,888 crore. In the third quarter of FY24, the EBITDA stood at ₹3,131 crore.

“UltraTech achieved a capacity utilisation of 73% during the quarter. Domestic sales volume grew 10% YoY. Energy costs were lower by 13% YoY and 4% QoQ mainly on account of decrease in fuel cost,” the firm said in a statement. Going forward, the company expects to generate volume growth of 7-8%.

During the quarter under review, UltraTech commissioned an additional 1.8 mtpa capacity. With the acquisition of India Cements, UltraTech’s cement capacity has increased to 171.11 mtpa, on a consolidated basis, as per the firm’s statement.

Upon completion of the ongoing expansion projects and the acquisition of Kesoram Cement (10.75 MTPA), UltraTech will achieve the milestone of more than 200 mtpa cement capacity in the country by the end of FY27, the firm has asserted.

Following the Q3 beat, UltraTech shares rallied more than 6% to ₹11,351.60 on NSE at 2:30 pm.
