Tata Group-owned Tata Elxsi and Titan Co hit their 52-week lows in Tuesday’s (April 1) trade as benchmark indices recorded their biggest single-day decline in a month. Apart from these two companies, Sona BLW Precision Forgings also plunged to a 52-week low of ₹455.30 on the NSE.

Notably, auto and auto ancillary stocks have been under pressure following the US President’s announcement of a 25% tariff on automakers, set to take effect from April 2. Shares of Sona BLW have lost nearly 10% of their value over the past week.

On the flip side, shares of Bangalore-based Tata Elxsi closed Tuesday’s session at ₹5,069.60, down 3% from the previous close, while Titan also declined by a similar margin to settle at ₹2,986.95.

With Tuesday’s fall, the stock of Tata Elxsi has plummeted as much as 25% since January this year and has more than halved from its record high of ₹10,760.40, seen in August 2022. As a result, the number of analysts recommending a “sell” on Tata Elxsi has risen to 71%, up from 60% a year ago.

With a market capitalisation of ₹2.7 lakh crore, Titan Co remains the second-largest company in the Tata Group, contributing 9.6% to the group’s total market valuation.

Analysts at Ambit anticipate weaker revenue growth momentum for Tanishq in February and March. “While long-term structural tailwinds remain intact for the sector, near-term revenue pressures and uncertainty around EBITDA margin recovery make Titan’s 50x FY27E P/E valuation appear expensive,” the brokerage wrote in an investor note.

Tata Group – the country’s largest conglomerate commands a combined market valuation of ₹27.6 lakh crore. Since the beginning of the year, the group has seen an erosion of ₹3.3 lakh crore, with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) alone losing about ₹2 lakh crore. Meanwhile, both Tata Motors and Titan have shed nearly ₹25,000 crore in market valuation during the same period.

The NSE 200 Index dropped 1.3% on Tuesday, marking its biggest single-day decline since February 28. The broader index fell by 173.45 points to close at 12,809.30. Among the index constituents, 58 companies ended the day in the green, while 142 closed in the red.
