Shiv Sena workers created a ruckus and ransacked a venue in Mumbai’s Khar on Sunday, March 23, over stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra’s remarks against Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

A video was uploaded on Sunday where Kamra spoke about the split in Shiv Sena and Eknath Shinde’s rebellion.

Here is what he said:

After the video went viral, Shiv Sena workers gathered at the Khar Comedy Club in Mumbai’s Khar area.

In videos, workers can be seen threatening the organisers and ransacking the venue.

In an apparent response, Kamra shared a picture of himself holding up a copy of The Constitution of India and said on X, “The only way forward…”

Later, Shiv Sena leader Rahul Kanal filed a complaint with the Khar police, claiming that Kunal Kamra, along with Rahul Gandhi, Aditya Thackeray, and Sanjay Raut, conspired to malign the image of deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde systematically.

Shiv Sena said Mumbai police detained Rahul Kanal and other party workers at around 4 am on Monday.

Statements from multiple Shiv Sena leaders continue to pour in. Sanjay Nirupam claims he will expose Kamra and address a press conference around 11 am on Monday, March 24.

MP Naresh Mhaske alleged that the Uddhav Thackeray faction paid Kunal Kamra to malign the Dy CM’s image. Mhaske also claimed that Sena workers would force Kamra to flee the country.
