It surged by 1,593.03 points, or 1.95%, hitting an intra-day high of 83,116.19 before settling at a record closing of 82,962.71, up 1,439.55 points, or 1.77%. Nifty set a new high, rising 470.45 points, or 1.89%, to close at an all-time high of 25,388.90. During the day, Nifty peaked at 25,433.35, gaining 514.9 points, or 2%.
Major contributors to the rally included Reliance Industries, HDFC Bank, and leading IT firms. The Nifty Bank Index jumped 762 points to 51,772, while the Midcap Index surged 702 points to close at 59,640.
