Sensex Today | Stock Market Highlights: The Indian markets closed near the day’s low on Thursday (October 31), influenced by weak global cues and intensified selling in the IT sector.
The Nifty Bank index also slipped 332 points, settling at 51,475, while the Midcap Index, despite closing in the red, comparatively outperformed the benchmarks, losing 226 points to finish at 56,113.
The IT sector saw notable pressure, with midcap IT stocks particularly impacted following global IT major Capgemini’s reduced guidance, driving sell-offs in the segment.
However, Cipla emerged as the top gainer on the Nifty, surging 9% after the company’s Goa unit received a Voluntary Action Indicated (VAI) classification, boosting investor confidence.
Infrastructure major L&T also posted an 8% gain, driven by the company’s decision to retain its FY25 guidance, which resonated positively with the market.
