Russia-Ukraine War Live: Ukraine reported a Russian missile strike on Dnipro, claiming it was an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), though the U.S. denied this. The attack injured two and damaged facilities, while another strike in Kryvyi Rih injured at least 26 people.
The attack resulted in two injuries and damage to an industrial facility and a rehabilitation centre for individuals with disabilities, causing significant destruction, including shattered windows and a ruined boiler room.
Later in the day, Ukraine said it was still working to identify the type of missile launched by Russia, marking another escalation in the ongoing 1,000-day conflict.
“We’re awaiting expert assessments to determine the exact type of new missile that Russia fired at Ukraine this morning, which exhibited all the flight characteristics of an ICBM,” said foreign ministry spokesperson Heorhii Tykhyi in a post on X.
In another strike, on the city of Kryvyi Rih in Ukraine’s Dnipropetrovsk region, at least 26 people were injured, according to a Ukrainian official. Serhiy Lysak, head of the Dnipropetrovsk regional military administration, reported that among the wounded, at least 10 individuals have been hospitalised, with two women in serious condition—one suffering cuts to her head and the other with a shrapnel wound to her abdomen.
The use of an ICBM raises concerns about potential escalation, mainly as these missiles are designed to carry nuclear warheads. This incident follows President Vladimir Putin’s recent signing of a revised atomic doctrine that lowers the threshold for nuclear weapon use.
