What is PM-KISAN?

PM-KISAN is a government scheme that provides financial aid to small and marginal farmers. Eligible farmers receive ₹6,000 annually in three instalments of ₹2,000. The government covers the full cost.

The funds help farmers meet agricultural and household expenses.

Who is eligible?

Farmers with cultivable land in their names qualify for the scheme. However, some categories are excluded:

Institutional landowners: Land owned by trusts or institutions is ineligible.

Government employees: State and central government employees, except Class IV and multi-tasking staff, do not qualify.

Professionals: Registered doctors, engineers, chartered accountants, and lawyers are excluded.

Taxpayers: Farmers who paid income tax in the last assessment year cannot receive benefits.

Recovery from ineligible farmers

The government is recovering funds from ineligible beneficiaries. Those who wrongly received PM-KISAN payments must return the amount or face penalties. Farmers with incorrect land records may also face scrutiny.
