This marks Ola’s fifth product to achieve this recognition, alongside its other models, including the S1 Pro, S1 Air, S1 X 3kWh, and S1 X 4kWh.
The PLI certification signifies that the S1 X 2kWh meets the stringent minimum localisation criteria of 50%, a key benchmark for eligibility under the scheme.
Certified by the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), the product will now be eligible for government incentives for up to five years, ranging from 13% to 18% of its “determined sales value.”

Ola Electric’s spokesperson highlighted that this achievement underscores the company’s vertically integrated manufacturing capabilities and strengthens India’s electric vehicle (EV) landscape.
“The government’s ambitious Auto PLI Scheme has been a game changer that has also pushed manufacturers to enhance local supply chains, foster domestic manufacturing, and assist companies in achieving economies of scale,” the spokesperson added.
Ola has also been awarded a 20GWh capacity under the government’s PLI scheme for Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC) battery storage, further bolstering its ambitious plans for domestic EV manufacturing.
