Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani has pledged to make Assam “tech ready and AI ready,” announcing plans to establish an AI-ready data centre in the state. Speaking at the Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment and Infrastructure Summit, Ambani noted Assam’s digital transformation as a “noble and patriotic mission.”

“Jio has made Assam not only 2G-mukt but 5G-yukt,” he said, highlighting Reliance Jio’s role in upgrading the region’s telecom infrastructure. He also expressed gratitude for Assam’s widespread adoption of Jio services.

Following the rollout of high-speed connectivity, Reliance will now focus on high-performance computing infrastructure. The planned AI-ready data centre aims to support various sectors—empowering students with AI-assisted teachers, aiding doctors with AI-driven diagnostics, and revolutionising agriculture with AI-assisted farming. Ambani also underscored AI’s potential to enable Assam’s youth to “learn from home and earn from home.”

Additionally, Ambani shared that Reliance has invested over ₹12,000 crores after committing ₹5,000 crore at the first Advantage Assam Summit in 2018.

Looking ahead, Reliance plans to more than quadruple its investment in Assam to over ₹50,000 crore in the next five years.
