The much-anticipated debate will be held on Tuesday, September 10, at 9:00 PM New York time i.e. 6:30 AM in India.
At this stage, before the debate, here isn’t a lot to differentiate the two candidates for the next US President and here’s an opportunity for both to extend their lead over the other.
The 78-year-old Trump, a former President, was the frontrunner for the White House until incumbent Joe Biden decided to pass the baton to the 59-year-old, current Vice President, Kamala Harris. The initial excitement among Democrats has cooled off and many polls suggest a neck-and-neck fight. That brings the seven battleground states with the maximum number of undecided voters into play.
Today’s debate is an opportunity to turn at least convince some of them. While their respective stance on policies will be important, much of the televised Presidential debates is as much about the optics, their relative ‘performance’, and an opportunity to leave a better impression than the other.
