Iran’s aviation authority has cancelled all flights until further notice, state news agency IRNA reported.

This comes on the back of fresh escalation in the region, after Israel launched a fresh attack on Iran early on Saturday.

Ja’far Yazerlou, the spokesperson for Iran’s civila aviation organisation, said that flights on all routes have been cancelled.

On Saturday, Israel said its military “completed precise and targeted strikes against military targets in a number of areas in Iran,” adding that its warplanes returned to their bases. The Israel Defense Forces said the airstrikes were “in response to the attacks by the Iranian regime against the State of Israel and its citizens in recent months.”

Iran’s military said the Israeli strikes targeted military bases in Ilam, Khuzestan and Tehran provinces, causing “limited damage.” The statement from Iran’s armed forces was read aloud on state television, which showed no images of the damage described. Iran’s military claimed its air defences limited the damage done by the strikes, without providing additional evidence.
