The scheme, also known as VSV 2.0, came into effect on October 1, 2024. It aims to reduce litigation by allowing taxpayers to resolve disputes pending as of July 22, 2024, before various appellate authorities—including CIT(A), ITAT, High Courts, and the Supreme Court.
Declarations must be filed under Section 90 of the Finance (No. 2) Act, 2024.
The CBDT said it launched VSV 2.0 based on the success of the 2020 edition, which helped clear pending appeals and brought in significant revenue.
The new scheme focuses on speeding up the disposal of appeals and reducing the burden on the appellate system.
