HCLTech employee strength shrinks again, third time in last five quarters – CNBC TV18

HCLTech reported a net reduction of 780 employees for the July to September 2024 quarter, bringing its total workforce to 218,621, according to its Q2 results released on October 14. This marks the third decrease in headcount over the past five quarters.

In the previous June 2024 ended quarter, The Noida-headquartered IT major had witnessed a decline of 8,080 in its headcount, even as the firm had seen a rise in the number of employees in the two quarters preceding Q1 of FY25.

At the time of announcing Q1 result, HCLTech had said it plans to hire a total of 10,000 freshers during the fiscal year 2025. In Q2, the firm hired 2,932 freshers.

HCL Technologies reported an 11% year-on-year increase in net profit for Q2 FY25, reaching ₹4,235 crore, surpassing market expectations. However, on a quarter-on-quarter basis, net profit saw a slight dip of 0.5%, while revenue grew by around 3%.

The IT firm announced a dividend of ₹12 per equity share (face value of ₹2) for the 2024-25 financial year. The record date will be October 22, 2024, while the payment date of the interim dividend will be October 30, 2024, the company said in a regulatory filing.
