The Ayushman Vaya Vandana Card is a health card that provides free treatment to all senior citizens above 70 years of age, regardless of income or economic status.

Part of a new health insurance scheme under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY), this initiative is aimed at providing affordable healthcare for India’s senior citizens.

Free Treatment: The card provides an annual health cover of ₹5 lakh per family for healthcare needs, shared if multiple elderly individuals live in one household.

Universal Applicability: There’s no restriction on income, making it accessible to all senior citizens.

Reduced Financial Burden

: Families with senior citizens will experience reduced financial stress.

This card will benefit about 4.5 crore families, covering nearly 6 crore seniors with an annual ₹5 lakh insurance cover per family.

How to use the Ayushman Vaya Vandana Card?

Enrolment process: To use the Ayushman Vaya Vandana Card, one requires registration via the PM-JAY portal or Ayushman app and mandatory eKYC completion, even for those with existing Ayushman cards.

Integration with other schemes: Beneficiaries of other government health schemes, such as CGHS and ECHS, can choose to maintain their current coverage or switch to the Ayushman Bharat benefits.

Card offer for other beneficiaries: The card is also available for individuals covered under the Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) and those with private health insurance.
