Coffee retailer Tata Starbucks has launched direct deliveries in Mumbai, India, via its mobile app. Currently a pilot programme, deliveries are only available in select areas of Mumbai and are fulfilled by specific stores based on the delivery location.

At present, Starbucks is offering delivery from 10 stores located in the suburbs of Andheri West, Andheri East, Vile Parle East, and Juhu. Customers can choose a store based on their delivery location, and that store will fulfil the order.

Although Tata Starbucks has not yet responded to CNBC-TV18’s query about the direct delivery launch, the Starbucks mobile app now lists delivery options in these areas.

Orders placed through the app incur a delivery fee of ₹100 for orders below ₹500, along with a packaging fee of ₹19. Customers can place orders up to a maximum value of ₹4,000.

Previously, Tata Starbucks delivered through food ordering platforms Swiggy and Zomato. In 2020, the company introduced the ‘order and pay ahead’ feature in its app, allowing customers to order and collect their items from a nearby store.

As of Q1 FY25, Starbucks operates 438 stores across 65 cities in India and reported a 4% revenue growth for the quarter.

By offering direct delivery, Tata Starbucks joins other quick-service chains such as Domino’s Pizza and McDonald’s. Domino’s, however, fulfils its own delivery orders even when placed via Swiggy or Zomato.
