The support of the Jat community, which represents a substantial portion of the electorate in the national capital, remains crucial for any party aiming to secure power. Despite a perceived decline in their influence over the past few years, partly due to the increasing diversity of Delhi’s population, the Jats continue to hold significant sway in West, South-West, and outer Delhi.
In West Delhi, areas such as Najafgarh, Vikaspuri, and Matiala remain strongholds of the Jat community. Key constituencies with notable Jat populations include Mundka (28%), Najafgarh (25%), and Bijwasan (23%). Other significant Jat-influenced seats are Narela, Kirari, RK Puram, and Mehrauli. The BJP’s success in these areas highlights the community’s crucial role in shaping the political landscape of Delhi.
