The previous deadline was September 14, 2024.
This is not the first extension for the service, which has been extended multiple times.
The free update service is only available on the myAadhaar portal.
At physical Aadhaar centers, a fee of ₹50 is charged, as before.
UIDAI encourages residents to revalidate their demographic details, especially if Aadhaar was issued more than 10 years ago and has never been updated.
Residents can upload Proof of Identity (PoI) and Proof of Address (PoA) online by logging into https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/portal using their Aadhaar number.
A One Time Password (OTP) will be sent to the registered mobile number, allowing users to verify their details and upload the required documents.
If residents need to update their demographic details like name, date of birth, or address, they can do so through the online service or by visiting the nearest Aadhaar center.
Steps to update Aadhaar address online:
- Go to the Aadhaar self-service update portal and click on ‘Proceed to Update Address.’
- Log in using the Aadhaar number, registered mobile number, and OTP.
- If valid address proof is available, select ‘Proceed to Update Address.’
- Enter your Aadhaar number and click ‘Send OTP.’
- After receiving the OTP, log in and select ‘Update Address via Address Proof.’
- Enter the new address and upload the scanned copy of the proof of address.
- Submit the update request to receive a 14-digit Update Request Number (URN).
Residents can track the status of their address update using the URN and download the updated Aadhaar card once processed.
The list of acceptable documents for updates is available on UIDAI’s website.
