The scheme is allocated ₹10,579 crore for the 15th Finance Commission period, spanning from 2021-22 to 2025-26, as announced by Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.

‘Vigyan Dhara’ encompasses three main areas: building institutional and human capacity in science and technology, advancing research and development, and fostering innovation, technology development, and deployment.
To enhance practical experience for students, the scheme will provide internships for class 11 and 12 students, along with fellowships for undergraduate, postgraduate, PhD, and post-doctoral research.
