From Audi and Mahindra to Honda, the last week of November 2024 witnessed big launches from top automakers across price segments, featuring the latest engines and designs.

Here’s a recap of major launches in the auto sector this week:

Audi Q5 Sportback

The 2025 Q5 Sportback, a sleek and coupe-like variant of Audi’s highly popular Q5 SUV was introduced this week. The new car features a sloping coupe-like roofline, a reworked spoiler as well a smaller, triangular rear quarter glass. It offers a range of powertrains — starting with the 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine along with the 2.0-litre diesel engine. Both have the capability to produce 201 bhp and 340 Nm of torque.

Not just that, there SQ5 Sportback even comes with a 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine that can generate 362 bhp and 550 Nm of torque. The Q5 Sportback is expected to arrive in global markets next year.

Mahindra BE 6e

In a major push towards electric mobility, Mahindra has come up with the all-new BE 6e electric SUV in the Indian market, starting at ₹18.90 lakh (ex-showroom).

Being the first vehicle to launch the company’s electric-only BE sub-brand, BE 6e measures 4,371 mm in length, 1,907 mm in width, and 1,627 mm in height. It has been built on Mahindra’s INGLO platform and comes with two battery configurations: 59 kWh and 79 kWh, with the smaller option having a motor that can generate 225 BHP and 380 Nm of torque. The larger battery can support a motor that can produce 277 BHP while maintaining the same torque output.

Mahindra is planning to kickstart customer deliveries by February 2025.

Mahindra XEV 9e

Besides the BE 6e, Mahindra this week also introduced its all-electric coupe-style SUV, the XEV 9e. Starting with an initial price of ₹21.90 lakh (ex-showroom), the XEV 9e will come with two battery options: a 59 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery and a larger 79 kWh unit.

The first one powers a motor that can produce 231 hp, while the larger battery delivers 286 hp. Meanwhile, both of them provide rear-wheel drive with a torque output of 380 Nm. The 79 kWh variant is touted to have a maximum range of 656 km on the MIDC cycle, supporting 175 kW DC fast charging.

Deliveries for this model might begin in February or March next year.


  1. Honda ACTIVA e: and QC1

This week, Honda unveiled two new electric scooters in the Indian market — ACTIVA e: and the QC1.

The ACTIVA e, an electric version of the highly famous ACTIVA scooter, is equivalent to a 110 cc internal combustion engine model and offers a range of up to 102 km per charge. It will come with three riding modes — STANDARD, SPORT, and ECON to allow users to adapt to different situations. It will be available in Bengaluru, Delhi, and Mumbai starting in spring 2025.

The QC1 is a compact electric moped designed for short-distance travel. It will run on a 1.5 kWh battery that can be recharged at home using a dedicated charger. It can deliver a range of up to 80 km per charge. The QC1 is also set for launch in spring 2025.

Pricing for both models will be announced in January.


  1. Ola Electric S1 Z and Gig

Ola Electric has also announced its latest offerings, the Ola S1 Z and Gig range of electric scooters this week, with a starting price of ₹39,000.

The models, designed for accessibility and affordability, will come with an innovative portable battery pack — Ola PowerPod — that will also work as a home inverter.

The company has started bookings for the S1 Z and Gig range, while the deliveries may commence in April next year.
