The official handle of the Indian Air Force wrote on X that their helicopters continued relentless efforts in Tripura flood
relief operations, with “NDRF personnel inducted into disaster-struck areas”.
“A total of 28 tonnes of relief material has been airlifted till now for flood-affected Tripura,” it said.
On Friday morning, the M-17 helicopters dropped dry food and water bottles in the camps of West Tripura, Sepahijala, Gomati, and South Tripura.
Speaking to ANI, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha addressed the ongoing flood crisis in the state and assured the citizens that the situation was under control. “We are controlling the situation. People are also supporting us,” he said. Saha also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for releasing Rs 40 crore towards the relief fund in Tripura.
At least 22 people have died and two are missing as a result of the recent heavy rains and landslides in the state. Over 65,000 people are taking shelter in 450 relief camps after their homes were destroyed by the downpour.
On Friday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated that 11 NDRF teams, three Army columns, and four helicopters were assisting the Tripura government in relief and rescue operations.
