Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Devendra Fadnavis will take oath as the new chief minister of Maharashtra on December 5. The decision was taken during the BJP’s crucial legislature party meeting at the Maharashtra Vidhan Bhavan on Wednesday (December 4).

Fadnavis is unanimously elected as the BJP legislature party leader. As soon as the announcement was made, celebrations erupted outside the party office.

He thanked party members for electing him as the state legislature party leader. He says that this election was a historic election as BJO won 130 seats. He reiterates, “‘Ek hai to safe hai’ and ‘Modi hai to Mumkin hai'”.

The BJP legislature party leader elected in the meeting will meet the governor to stake a claim to form the new government in the state.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani were appointed as central observers for the BJP legislature party meeting. They reached Mumbai on December 4.

The BJP achieved remarkable success in the November 20 Maharashtra elections, securing 132 out of 288 seats, marking its best performance in the state so far.
